Yesterday was April 26th. As an Avengers fan, this date is significant. A year ago Avengers Endgame came out and along with it several characters died to save the universe. Most notably Tony Stark, better known as Iron Man, who made the ultimate sacrifice. So to commemorate the anniversary of the release of such a monumental film, I drew Tony Stark. We love you 3000, Iron Man!
The fifth week in isolation has crawled by, I can’t even remember the beginning of this week! I have been attempting to connect with more people and have felt less secluded, trapped within the walls of my home. I might have to back track on what I said last week. My brother and I are at odds, once again. Despite our similar interests, we have spent too much time together. Whenever I try to work on my own, he has made it his duty to be vexatious. He is like a dull pain, aggravating, but manageable. In the famous words of William Shakespeare “The sweetest honey is loathsome in his own deliciousness”. I didn’t even need to look up the quote, those days spent at the desk labouring tediously have paid off, just not in the way I thought! Guess where it’s from, bonus points if you can guess the character who said it.
I have trouble believing I truly am in the UK when the weather is fantastic. The cerulean sky unburdened with clouds of a stormy grey. The sun’s rays stream through the windows and one would feel unsettled if they didn’t bask in the warmth. Like most, the garden has been my place to be, whether I am playing cricket, or simply engaging in a novel.
Speaking of books, I never really got around to reading Sherlock Holmes this week. It is on my to-do list. I have, however, started reading ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’. I am hit with nostalgia as I return to the wizarding world once more. I never got to fully appreciate J.K Rowling’s writing when I was younger.
This week I am starting school again, but with transition courses from GCSE to A-level. If these words go over your head, I explain what they are in my blog post ‘Little Things’.
Finally, I have been ‘recruiting’. You should see many more writers appearing on the site. Thank you to Free Spirit for writing a brilliant poem on Hope, in such a sombre time we are in desperate need of it. We are all from different parts of the world and want to share how the pandemic has affected us personally. It is interesting to see how the situation is viewed through a different pair of eyes.
